Arizona lawmakers attempt to ban race/ethnicity...
From here:
Multiculturalism is a basic American concept. We value the beliefs, traditions, customs, arts, history and folklore of the diverse cultures reflected throughout our nation. All this is being put at risk in Arizona, where last week the Appropriations Committee passed an amendment to a routine homeland security bill, SB 1108 that would prohibit students at the state’s public...

I have a brilliant idea
It will allow me to single-handedly get rid of a whole pile of crap in my room, add another piece to my exhibit, AND confuse people, all at once. Unfortunately, I am stuck in the cold, cold library, doing readings for a midterm I have tomorrow.
According to the algebra I just did, in order for me to get an A (90) in this class, I need to get 67% on tomorrow’s midterm, assuming a 100% grade...
Courses I will never get to take
It’s pre-registration week at my soon-to-be alma mater! Here are some notable new courses that I will never get to take:
DRNK0010 Drinking and its Effects on Social Behavior
CHEM0530 The Chemistry of Bartending
MUSC2150 Senior Seminar in DJ-ing (w/DJ Alcohollins)
TSDA8909 Contemporary Dance-Battling Techniques
“Info session” is tomorrow from 10pm-1am at a local...
E-mail etiquette
karmcity:
Whoever came up with the idea that all e-mails are informal, and thus, can be excused from any spelling or grammatical errors should be ostracized from the community. For those who work in a corporate environment, I’d guess about 90% of communication with co-workers is done via e-mail. So, if you’re a lazy e-mailer, you come across as an idiot 90% of the time. Come to think of it,...

At first, I wondered, “WHY?” …but the tutoring center associated with it sounds really good. Still… WHY BIGFOOT?

I don’t get it. Isn’t a Harry Potter encyclopedia just like citing every freaking thing in the Harry Potter books? Wouldn’t people still have to read the damned books to get the story in a more sensible, non-alphabetized order? Rowling needs to get off her high horse, because poverty and single-motherhood certainly hadn’t “decimated [her] creative work” when she...

Rundown of the apps in the new MacHeist bundle
So MacHeist is doing this new thing where people can skip all the trouble of going through “heists” and just buy a bundle of apps for $49. I have most of the apps, so here’s a quick rundown to help anyone decide if they’re really worth it (and they’ve also got this referral thing going on… I don’t know what we get out of it, exactly, but whatever....
Flickr does video now! Here’s a random video I took in DC of a trippy Lichtenstein sculpture. As a bonus, you get to hear what I sound like… which is basically a little boy with a cold.

How to find things
I just found this link while browsing Lifehacker. It caught my attention because I had been trying to locate my battery recharger for WEEKS with little success (my Wiimotes need recharging!!). Unfortunately, it turns out that this “book” is just an exploded (as in, unnecessarily verbose and redundant) list that I will reproduce here using the magic of brevity:

Back in stripes
I’ve downgraded my computer to Tiger (le sigh). Here are some things I learned:
Leopard’s user experience is nicer. I already miss all the VERY GOOD improvements to Finder (specifically: better file icons, file previews, and Docked folder pop-ups). I won’t say this makes it MUCH nicer than Tiger, but it certainly made my life easier… when the general bulk of the...

…if we pretend that my boyfriend is JET (that’s the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program).
With all the hubbub over college admissions and my friend’s recent letter about her Fulbright, I’m getting reeeeal impatient waiting for official word about whether or not I get to go to Japan next year.
Mainly, I just want to know if I should start planning to leave the country...
My computer rebels... domination by robots...
…Juuuust kidding! (No, I am NOT good at April Fools jokes, why do you ask?) But this is still a serious issue I feel like complaining about: Leopard hates my computer. REALLY REALLY HATES.
I’ve just had to reset the PRAM for the third time in two months (because the ability to play back ALL sounds inexplicably disappears from my computer from time to time), when I’ve NEVER had...
