Back in stripes
I’ve downgraded my computer to Tiger (le sigh). Here are some things I learned:
- Leopard’s user experience is nicer. I already miss all the VERY GOOD improvements to Finder (specifically: better file icons, file previews, and Docked folder pop-ups). I won’t say this makes it MUCH nicer than Tiger, but it certainly made my life easier… when the general bulk of the operating system wasn’t squashing the will to
liveprocess out of my PowerBook, that is. - Regardless of what operating system I use, using Office 2008 is about as pleasant as working in cancer-curing molasses: I WANT to like it, but it’s just sooooo slowwww.
- CoverSutra 1.2.1 now supports MacHeist license codes… woot!
- Mail in Tiger sucks more than I remembered… but at least I only need to clean out the database once a week versus the once a day in Leopard (Mail tends to grind down to an unusable state if I don’t clean it out once in a while).
- Spotlight in Leopard is about 10 times more useful than in Tiger… in that it is useful at ALL. (Though I guess you’ve got some use out of Spotlight in Tiger if you have anything better than a G4 processor… woe is me.)
- I need to start saving up for a new computer.
