MY COMPUTER BROKE
If I believed in a higher power, this would’ve truly been an excellent sign that someone/something was smiting me for all of the kittens I’ve kicked in my life (disclaimer: I have never kicked—nor do I ever plan on kicking—kittens).
Basically, my almost three-year-old PowerBook just had a kernel panic (something like its 4th under Tiger) and now the operating system won’t boot. At all. Not regularly, not in single-user mode, not after resetting the PRAM. I think the OS done did broke and I just have to reinstall it now.
Luckily, I happen to have an extra iBook to use, so I’ve not completely degenerated to thrashing about on the floor in misery at my total isolation from the interweb. I guess I’ll set my iBook to the task of backing up all the stuff on the PB (if it will even boot in target mode… it should, since the OS isn’t involved, right?) and eventually try reinstalling Tiger.
So I guess this kills my plan of making this other nifty computer thing for my exhibit closing today… heck, I can’t even make an iTunes playlist to play there. Oh well. Can I take this as a sign that I really need a shiny new MacBook Pro now?
