Internet, maple syrup, good weather, and a sports festival
FINALLY have internet access at home! So of course, I went and l got all the episodes of Project Runway that I’ve missed. Japanese ADSL seems to work just as well as my Comcast broadband back home.
Went to the most awesome buffet ever today. You could cook your own meat at your table AND there was soooo much delicious food otherwise… and a fricking giant chocolate fountain.
Unfortunately, Corey got his bike stolen while we were eating. I’ve laughed at him enough so we’ll just leave it at that.
Now let’s go further back in time!
Last night, I went to a maple syrup party hosted by our local Canadian. Lots of other JETs from the area (“the area” being up to a few hours away) and their various Japanese acquaintances were there, so I schmoozed much in Japanglish. Also, maple syrup salad dressing is freaking delicious.
We’ve been having a lucky streak of good weather recently. Kushiro is known for fog and rain, so it’s pretty amazing when we get several days of sunny skies.
WHICH MEANS, my school’s sports festival was NOT postponed and I got to watch two days of the kids tumbling about the school athletic grounds. Mostly, it was excellent because no one had classes. But it also got kinda boring just watching the students play soccer badly all day. In any case, I have to figure out how to get one of the classes to adopt me so that I can get an awesome class t-shirt with my nickname on the back (I’ll actually have to come up with a nickname at that point). I’ll get photos up at some point… though my camera died halfway through the second day so I wasn’t able to take the hundreds of photos I usually take.
