A birthday and a Powerpoint
Yesterday was my friend’s birthday, so of course we celebrated in Extreme Style by eating a lot of tonkatsu and then drinking to match. It was good. Translating our crass English language jokes for our Japanese compadres was kind of a hilarious success. And did I mention there was delicious cake? Cake makes anything a success, I think (though certainly not as much as a Japanese-style parfait with cornflakes).
This morning, I got an e-mail from my mom with an ostensibly lucky Powerpoint attached. Most of it was an adage about how money is not what matters in life, in Chinese and English. Then the shocker came at the end: “Pass this onto X number of people in N days and you will have luck FOR REALS!!1” It was a freaking chain e-mail… in Powerpoint form… and my MOM had sent it to me. I closed the PowerPoint and deleted the file when I realized what it was. Hopefully, my mom didn’t bother X-1 (I’m not sure how many people one was supposed to send it to in order to receive the purported luck) other people with it.
In other news, I can drive my car home on Christmas day at the latest!! Woohoo!!
