Chinese New Year
…Japan does not celebrate it. :((((
People kept wishing me a happy Chinese New Year over IM, and I could only bitterly think “I’m not eating decent Chinese food unless I’m making it myself, and I really have no high hopes for my movitation.”
In fact, I wouldn’t have known it was today had my parents not basically been counting down for me in our Skype conversations. And actually, I DID forget… I only remembered when a teacher asked me what today was as I offered him some cake (leftovers from a little “last class” party).
I considered calling together an impromptu dumpling-making party… but then decided I had too many errands to run (needed gas, kerosene, had to go shopping) and too messy a house to be calling people over. Especially since I’d have to pick up half those people myself. So I had cold tofu on rice… which I actually really enjoy. It just sounds pitiful.
In other news, I removed my Cap of +10 Slowness and Hermiticness and discovered that everyone’s favorite angsty short person Trent Reznor—prior to posting a torrent of 400GB of HD concert footage—has been offering “The Slip” album for only the price of my spammail account… so I obliged. I quite like it, which I feel I must say because I don’t like too many of his older songs. His music is straight-up sounding like stuff skillfully mashed in GarageBand (which, if his past releases in Garageband format are any indication, is probably true)… but I rather enjoy it because now pretty much ALL of the songs have some nice—almost danceable—rhythm to distract us from the unpleasant subjects of his songs. I am liking “Discipline” so far… here it is artfully interpreted by a YouTubian.
