Here’s a dinky approximation of a balloon I randomly made to test out DrawIt.
Since I’ve graduated and can no longer mooch off of my school’s Adobe Creative Suite license, I’ve been listlessly wandering from application to application, looking for things that may come close to replacing Photoshop and Illustrator… but mostly Illustrator, since most of what I did in Photoshop is now done in Lightroom.
Anyway, I have VectorDesigner… which just makes me angry, so I went and looked for a better alternative. DrawIt seems to be the best so far. The interface is clean and innovative in a good way, drawing vectors is dead simple, and its ability to apply multiple filters (multiple versions of the SAME filters too, if you would like!) to each object is downright brilliant. Random slowdowns and small glitchiness in manipulating vector points make me miss Illustrator, but even so, it seems like a great app for $38… especially since VectorDesigner is $70 (I really can’t comprehend why… I only have it because it was tacked on in a MacHeist bundle).
