MacHeist bundle run-down

Buying the MacHeist bundle is getting harder and harder to justify with each new one. So here’s a quick rundown of each app in the bundle (with LINKS, because MacHeist somehow thought it was sufficient to display a screencast for each app instead of linking the developpers):

  1. iSale - This would’ve been awesome two years ago, but personal selling on eBay is on its way out nowadays.
  2. Picturesque - In an alternate universe when I have need to apply dinky frames to images, I may be able to contrive a reason for this app.
  3. SousChef - On the one hand, I could actually use this because I’m getting into cooking things for myself, but on the other hand… I have the internet. And I wish there was an easy way to convert all English units in a recipe to metric, but I do not remember even seeing a unit converter in the app. Also, it crashed on me.
  4. World of Goo - Honestly, this was the ONLY thing in the bundle that had me really excited. I have the soundtrack (very Tim Burton-esque) and played the demo… awesome. If I don’t buy the bundle, I’m just going to go buy this game.
  5. PhoneView - This app does a wonderful job of making something you have never had to do seem like something you really would find useful. It would be nice to have disk use back on my iPod Touch, but then again, I could also buy a thumb drive for $5 if I really REALLY needed that (I don’t).
  6. LittleSnapper - I actually take a ton of screenshots and save loads of images as references for ideas and future projects… but I am managing perfectly fine with Finder and can’t see too many advantages in opening another application whenever I wanted to find a picture I saved. Plus, I hate menu bar icons.
  7. Acorn - It’s an image editor. YAWN.
  8. Kinemac - Shiny! 3D! Effects! For you!! I don’t think I’ll ever need this!!
  9. WireTap Studio - DO actually want. I use WireTap Pro quite a lot, and would definitely appreciate the additional features of Studio.
  10. BoinxTV (not available as of yet) - This also looks very cool. Now if I can only make those dreams of starting my own fake internet news network a reality…
  11. The Hit List (not available yet) - An elaborate Get Things Done list making app. I never understood needing to remember to do a bunch of things in ORDER to remember to do a bunch of things.
  12. Espresso (not available yet) - I may actually use this if it actually gets unlocked. I’ve always wanted Coda, and this seems to be MacRabbit’s Coda-competitor. The average user would have no use for this, though.
